Chisinau, February 8, INTERLIC. A group of the members of the RF State Duma has begun to study the situation in Transdniestria after the reciprocal accusation of the run-up for armed confrontation on the part of Chisinau and Transdniestria. As INTERLIC News agency reports with reference to the Olvia press, there are the representatives of all the factions of the RF State Duma - Victor Alksnis (Rodina?), Aleksandr Shibalkin (Joint Russia?), Nikolai Benediktov (CPRF), Nikolai Kurianovich (LDPR), as well as Independent Parliamentary Sviatoslav Nastashevsky among the members of this group. According to the Transdniestrian official News agency Olvia-press?, the visit was agreed with RF State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov and the group will make a report on this visit in the State Duma. Today the group was in the Security Zone and has had a meeting with the administration of the city of Bender. On the results of the meeting V. Alksnis has declared in Tiraspol that Russia should take a more decisive position and demand the implementation of the earlier signed agreements, for example, the Memorandum of 1997, which guaranteed economic activities freedom. In the opinion of the Russian Parliamentary, the RF MFA should be occupied with this problem. Besides, Victor Alksnis considers that the practice of granting a Russian citizenship , which was tested in Abkhazia, where the overwhelming majority of the population received the documents within a very short period, should be expanded to Transdniestria. In V. Alksniss opinion, Russia should take a more tough and principal position in the talks with Moldova. The Russian Parliamentary considers that Transdniestria can be lawfully recognized within the nearest several years. According to V. Alksniss, it will become possible, when the Western countries recognize the independence of Kosovo and create Kosovos precedent, which can be used for the settlement of conflicts on the post-Soviet space. Another Russian Parliamentary N. Kurianovich considers that Russia must apply a regime of economic sanctions in respect of Moldova, and to increase its contingent, participating in the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester. Alongside with it, as the Russian side has noted, it did not requested an official permission to visit Transdniestria by a delegation of the RF State Duma, , though it had to do it in accordance with requirements, introduced at the end of January.
