EU and US to take part in Transnistria conflict settlement

RBC, 27.10.2005, Moscow 11:29:23.Negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, interrupted a year ago, will resume today. For the first time, the US and the European Union have been granted observer status for the talks.
The negotiations will last for two days in the OSCE mission to Moldova offices in Chisinau and Tiraspol. Head of the OSCE mission to Moldova William Hill, a special EU envoy to Moldova Andrian Yakobovitz, and Senior Advisor for Eurasia at the US Department of State Steven Mann will take part in the negotiations. The conflict settlement plan will be considered, as proposed by the Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko. Discussions will be held on the possibility of the OSCE monitoring Transnistrian military enterprises and holding democratic elections in the region, prospects of Russian munitions dismantling.
