Russia has extended humanitarian financial assistance worth RUR280m (approx. USD10m) to Transnistria, spokesman for Transnistrian President for humanitarian aid and counter-blockade measures and First Deputy Industry Minister Yury Ganin told journalists in Tiraspol.

He elaborated that the monetary tranche had been delivered to Transnistria on April 26 from the Krasnodar regional foundation for assisting Russians living abroad. He added that this was not the last tranche, and more Russian funds were expected to render assistance to Transnistria.

According to the Transnistrian President's press service, President Igor Smirnov has thanked Governor of the Krasnodar region Alexander Tkachev for the tranche.
