Yet again 'talks' were held to discuss the 'Transnistria problem', this time it was Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and the chief of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) mission in Moldova Philip Remler, the Russian Foreign Ministry has reported.

The diplomats have discussed international mediators and monitors' plans to assist Chisinau and Tiraspol in restarting talks on the Transdniestrian settlement, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on Monday.

"The Russian side noted the role of the OSCE mission in the areas of human rights, ethnic minorities and media freedom," the statement said.

The diplomats exchanged views on ways to support bilateral groups of experts on trust building on the Dniester in the socioeconomic sector, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
