In time for Easter, two containers of medical supplies and equipment have arrived in Tiraspol. The supplies are donated by irish medical aid agency H.A.R.P. ( Humanitarian Aid Reachout Programme). This is Ireland's largest medical aid agency. The equipment includes equipment such as surgical equipment, incubators, heart restarting defibulators, ECG heart monitors and other life saving machines. The supplies also include medical aid such as several thousand first aid kits, as well as a fully working ambulance outfitted to European Union standards. The aid was donated to the PMR state-run hospital for Mother and Child, as well as two orphanages in the country, with more containers currently underway. The total value of the aid is estimated at 1 million Euros. Prior to the deliveries, a representative from the aid programme met with PMR Health Minister Ivan Valerievich, discussing the needs of the independent republic and committing itself to the delivery of an ambulance. " - This aid was donated from Irish hospitals from both North and South of the island", said a donor spokesman. " - The hospitals recognize the needs of their fellow medical professionals as they care for their patients in PMR under adverse conditions". Hospitals in Tiraspol and other parts of Pridnestrovie receive no help, funding or other assistance from neighboring Moldova. " - More containers are on the way, full of humanitarian medical aid for hospitals in Tiraspol," continued the spokesman. "We thank President Igor Smirnov for his personal assistance in facilitating the collaboration between hospitals in Ireland and Pridnestrovie."
