I notice that all the pro Transnistria independence groups, the Tiraspol Times propaganda site for instance, have continually hailed Kosovo's upcoming and now actual independence as a good sign regarding that of Transnistria's independence.

But the truth of the matter is they have little in common, and in fact the two situations are almost diametrically opposite. Kosovo wanted to remove itself from the influence of the Serbs and the Russians, both of whom have violently argued against Kosovo's independence, so the West hasn't had that far to reach morally in backing them up, anything that decreases Russian influence in the West's eyes in generally considered a good thing.

However, despite the propaganda, Kosovo independence, if anything, highlights how Transnistria's is less likely to happen with European and USA consent, Transnistria actually wants to return to the  clutches of Russia so would be creating a larger gap between itself and the EU, for  instance, if it were to succeed. Still, succeed it probably will eventually if that's the way things are going, but Kosovo's news has no real bearing at all on Transnistria's future, other than in the propaganda websites.
