A Russian convoy carrying humanitarian aid to the unrecognized republic of Transdniestria has been stopped by the Ukrainian authorities 65 kilometers from Kyiv.

"The Ukrainian authorities ordered the humanitarian convoy to stop 65 kilometers from Kyiv," a spokesman for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.

"The convoy has stopped in the middle of nowhere. The drivers will have to spend the whole day there, as the Ukrainian authorities had ordered the convoy to travel only during the hours of dark," the spokesman said.

Despite requests to provide drivers with an opportunity to rest in a hotel "Ukrainian representatives have as yet failed to solve this problem," the spokesman said.
