MOSCOW. (Interfax) - South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Transdniestria should be referred as self-proclaimed republics, said South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity.

"Our unions with Abkhazia and Transdniestria clearly demonstrate that we should cast away such terms as unrecognized republics. We are self-proclaimed republics," Kokoity told a briefing at the Interfax main office on Tuesday.

The celebration of the 15th anniversary of South Ossetia's independence on September 18-20 "clearly demonstrated to everyone, including the Georgian side, that South Ossetia is an established state," he said.

"From the point of view of self-determination, the truth is on our side and we do not doubt our success," he said.
