Transdniestria may enter the Russian ruble zone in the future, President of the breakaway republic Igor Smirnov said. Such an opportunity has emerged "after a protocol on economic cooperation between Russia and Transdniestria was signed last week," Smirnov said at a press conference in Tiraspol on Wednesday. "The document is an important step on the way to break the economic blockade. We were given an opportunity to cooperate directly with Russia, while Russian companies have been offered an opportunity to carry out business activities in Transdniestria," the president said. www.interfax.ru
