Chisinau, February 3, INTERLIC. Transdniestria comes out for Russias increase of its peacekeeping forces. As INTERLIC News agency report, Transdniestrias First Vice-Minister of state Security Oleg Gudymo has declared to the Olvia-press that the military operation should be strengthened for preventing the escalation of the conflict in Transdniestria.
He has declared that Russia has the juridical grounds for the increase of its military contingent in Transdniestria. According to him, only a little more than 300 RF peacekeepers are currently present in Transdniestria, whereas the signed agreement envisaged the presence of a considerably more numerous contingent.
Oleg Gudymo has also spoken out for the increase of the Russian representatives in the Joint Control Commission.
Let us remind that RM President declared that Transdniesria deliberately aggravates the situation in Transdniestria and expressed preoccupation with the escalation of tension in Transdniestria, as well as with the Transdniestrian authorities actions on the consecutive preparation of a large-scale armed destabilization on the Dniester. He declared it in the course of his meeting with the PACE representatives.
The RM Cabinet of Ministers noted that from the middle of January the Transdniestrian authorities carry on the concentration of the military units and weaponry in the Security Zone, they have deployed a wide advertising campaign on the intimidation of the Transdnistrian inhabitants with military threat, allegedly on the part of the RM official authorities and its people. At the same time the concentration of the Transdniestrian military units on the borders of the villages, which are on the Dniester left bank and under the jurisdiction of the RM, is strengthened manifold.
The RM government drew attention to the fact that all the observed military preparations coincide, which were not occasional, with electoral process in the RM and with numerous visits by delegations of the Council of Europe, Russian and the representatives of other countries, as well as with the activation of its cooperation with Ukraine, Romania and the countries of the European Union on the settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict. The last radical transformation in Ukraine, open cooperation of the two states in establishing the internationally recognized control on the Transdniestrian section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border provoke a panic on the part of the Transdniestrian authorities, which want to keep the power by all means.
The RM government considers that the Transdniestria leaders try to influence the electoral process in Moldova by such methods, paving the way to power for their political and economic partners. In the RM authorities submission, Tiraspols aim is to stir up a new conflict, to prevent the reintegration of the country.
