Transdniestrian December 10 Elections

The Central Elections Commission of the breakaway republic of Transdniestria has registered Andrei Safonov and Grigory Volovoi as candidates for the presidency and vice presidency respectively.

The elections are to take place on December 10.

Central Elections Commission chairman Petr Denisenko, who opposed registering Safonov, told journalists that he was "to accept the court's ruling."

"We were going to protest court's decision, but we were forced to accept it. We expected that the Supreme Council and the Supreme Court would reply to our inquires on the possibility of appealing the decision by 10 a.m., but we did not receive anything by that time," Denisenko said.
