From Tiraspol, capital city of Transnistria.

Transnistria sees only one possible future for itself, that is as a "sovereign independent state - equal member of the international community".

This is statement by Transnistrian Foreign Ministry as a reaction to the words of  Russian Minister of External Affairs Sergey Lavrov's, who believe that official negotiations should be resumed as soon as possible, according to an article in the Moldavskie vedomosti newspaper.

Lavrov was quoted saying that compromises should lead to the creation of a model for a unified Moldova with a special statute for Transnistria within its borders.

However, authorities in Tiraspol do not agree with such a special statute.

The Transnistrian Foreign Ministry also noted that negotiations with Chisinau (capital city of Moldova) had not been resumed because of the "permanent political crisis in Moldova".
