RBC, 01.11.2005, Tiraspol 10:20:29.Transnistria seconds the idea of holding a referendum to determine the public's attitude to the republic's prospective status, Transnistrian foreign minister Valery Litskay told journalists in Tiraspol. At this point, there are different options: people will have to choose between a federation, confederation or complete independence. Lawyers and politicians will later be guided by their choice.
When asked to comment on the resumed negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol, and the outcome of the talks held on October 27 to 28, Litskay said it had been an achievement that EU and US representatives had agreed to the Transnistrian terms restricting their role to observers. He said that Transnistria had agreed to their participation in the negotiations, provided that they would not make any proposals for Transnistrian conflict settlement. He also said that in addition to the plan proposed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, the parties were also considering new proposals from Russia.
