As Stef Goris noted, his organization views Ukraine as a European state, which
integration with Europe is irreversible.
It is very important that members of parliaments have an opportunity of cooperation
and not only within the WEU. He said, the WEU is waiting forward to listen to
a Ukrainian delegation's speech at its session hall. The meeting also dealt
with Ukraine's participation in conflict settlement in different states, Particularly,
engagement of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent and the plan, which President
Viktor Yuschenko has offered to regulate the situation in Transdniestria. Stef
Goris briefed Volodymyr Lytvyn of plans of establishment of a defense agency.
In this context the parties touched on likely cooperation between West European
countries and Ukraine, as a country producing transport helicopters and other
military-technical machinery.
